Just over a year ago, then Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders shocked the college football world.

Sanders flipped defensive back Travis Hunter, the top ranked recruit in the 2022 class, from his alma mater Florida State to FCS Jackson State.

The flip was momentous for a number of reasons. For one, it showed the power of Coach Prime’s recruiting prowess. Secondly, it sparked a number of rumors about the power of NIL in recruiting. And lastly, it put the small HBCU on the map when it came to recruiting.

Fast forward a year and Sanders has since left Jackson State for Colorado. Hunter followed shortly thereafter. But Sanders isn’t done rattling cages among the nation’s top programs, specifically in Florida.

Deion Sanders And Colorado Trending For Five-Star CB Cormani McClain.

Lakeland, Florida cornerback Cormani McClain is the top cornerback in the 2023 recruiting class according to 247Sports. At 6-foot-2, 165 pounds, McClain has a similar frame and athleticism to Hunter and many believe he could be a lockdown corner for years to come.

McClain’s recruitment has been anything but straightforward.  He appeared to be trending to the Florida Gators early in his recruitment. But he shocked fans in November when he pledged to the Miami Hurricanes instead.

That seemed to be the end of the discussion. But it turns out it was far from it. When National Signing Day rolled around, McClain did not put pen to paper. That’s because a new challenger entered the fray: Colorado and it’s new coach, Deion Sanders.

McClain and his family visited Colorado for the first time over the weekend and appeared to enjoy the experience.

The trip went so well that 247Sports insider Blake Alderman officially predicted that McClain would end up signing with Buffs.

It would mark the second straight year that Sanders landed the nation’s top cornerback. It appears that Coach Prime and Colorado have officially arrived, and they may well be here to stay.
