Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson put in a weak performance on Monday Night Football in a loss that saw the Steelers’ MNF winning streak extend to 21 games.

Watson threw for 235 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT and lost 2 fumbles. He is also being investigated by the league after shoving a referee, a move that would’ve normally resulted in an immediate ejection from the game but it was somehow overlooked.

Did Deshaun Watson’s burner account get exposed?

Pouring the proverbial salt in the wounds of Deshaun Watson‘s horrible MNF outing, internet detectives believe they have unearthed his burner account on Twitter / X.

The account’s handle is @Gainsvillesown which many believe is eponymously named for Deshaun Watson’s hometown of Gainesville, Georgia. If it is Deshaun Watson’s burner account, it is a very new one. The account was created in September 2023.

However, the account has been on a spree of responding to X’s / Tweets exclusively about Deshaun Watson. In response to a video showing Deshaun Watson putting his hands on a referee, the @Gainsvillesown account replied “Looks like Deshaun Watson got away with putting his hands on an official. Usually a no-no.”

In response to someone commenting on TJ Watt sacking Watson and scoring off the forced fumble, someone wrote “Watson looks rusty. Still. Kinda shocked about that.” The alleged burner account chimed in with “He got sacked in 1 second how he look rusty.”

Someone tweeted “2019 Deshaun Watson ain’t walking though that door” to which the alleged burner account replied “He’s still there he need help.” The burner account also replied to multiple tweets complaining about the offensive line letting the QB down.

A viral tweet/X from ‘Pickensburgh’ shows many replies from the alleged Deshaun Watson burner account.

Evidence against it being Watson’s burner account

According to J.R. DeGroote at Heavy, it appears as if the account was created during Monday Night Football. Some take this to mean that there’s no way Deshaun Watson could have created the account himself as if he wouldn’t have had control of his phone before/during the game and at halftime.

Professional athletes and coaches are often exposed for having burner accounts. Alleged examples would include Elijah Moore and Brian Kelly. Plenty of others have been accused of or exposed for having burner accounts throughout the years.

The fact that this alleged Deshaun Watson burner account was created on Monday is, at least somewhat, evidence in favor of it not being his personal burner account. However, in Sports we’ve seen family members launch burner accounts over the years to defend their love ones.
