College sports personality Desmond Howard is going viral for repeatedly yelling a lewd chant on the air during ESPN College GameDay. The sportscaster did so while previewing Washington’s matchup with PAC 12 rival Oregon.

While discussing that Top 10 meeting, Howard attempted to make a play on Huskies quarterback Michael Penix’s name. Viewers quickly reacted on social media.

“Big Penix Energy,” the host continuously sang during the segment before awkwardly laughing as he exited the screen. While it’s clear Howard thought it was quite funny, many online had a different reaction.

“YOU’RE LIVE ON NATIONAL TV AND YOU SAY THAT???”

“ESPN GameDay has lost all control A-Yoooooo.”

Desmond Howard is a clown… lame joke, just like your College GameDay career.”

“Desmond Howard is determined to get fired by the end of the season.”

It’s not the first time Howard has been questioned by college football fans. Over the last two seasons, he’s made some incredibly bad playoff predictions, leading to online mockery.

Last year, he went 1-for-4 in those picks, with only Michigan making the field. Baylor and Texas A&M finished with losing records while Pitt had four losses.

This year’s picks weren’t quite as outlandish, though Texas and Alabama already have a loss. FSU and Michigan remain unscathed, so he should fare a better this season.

As for last Saturday, that viral chant didn’t hit quite like Desmond Howard wanted it to. Penix, however, did show out in the Huskies’ 36-33 win over Oregon. The signal caller threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns, including an 18-yard score in the final two minutes.

With the victory, Washington not only stayed undefeated, but the Huskies stayed atop the conference standings in the PAC 12 championship race.

Penix and Co. will look to keep that same “energy” over the second half of the season.
