Olympic gold medalist Dez Bryant?

It could happen!

The former star wide receiver, who made three Pro Bowl appearances for the Dallas Cowboys, expressed his interest in playing flag football at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles on Monday.

Bryant hasn’t played in the NFL since 2020 and will be 39 when the summer games come back to the US for the first time since 1996. But the former Oklahoma State star says he’d be willing to get back after it for a shot at Olympic gold.

And he’s not the only NFL star who wants to represent their country, either.

Dez Bryant Joins Tyreek Hill On Flag Football Bandwagon

Miami Dolphins superstar Tyreek Hill had similar sentiments when news of flag football at the Olympics first broke a week ago.

As of now, flag football is not officially on the docket. But it’s one of five spots: alongside baseball, softball, cricket and squash, that have been proposed as new additions for the 2020 games.

“Calling all NFL guys,” Hill posted on his X (formerly Twitter) page in response to the Olympic announcement. “Let’s bring one home.”

The NFL also seems to be fully behind the sport’s addition to the legendary quadrennial competition.

“The NFL is committed to working together to strengthen flag football’s place in the Olympic movement long term, and we look forward to continuing this exciting journey with IFAF, the LA28 Organizing Committee, the International Olympic Committee and USA Football,” NFL commissioner said.

The International Olympic Committee provided no details about the sport’s inclusion. How many players would be on each team is still yet to be determined.

And we don’t know the selection process either.

But it seems hard to fathom a way the US wouldn’t win gold.

And watching a bunch of retired stars get back on the field could be a ton of fun.

So consider us team Dez. Maybe we can even throw Peyton Manning and LaDanian Tomlinson out there. For old time’s sake.

Who says no?
