What began as a promising season for the Miami Dolphins ultimately ended in disappointment over the weekend as they lost to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card game, which ended their season.

Perhaps more concerning than the loss, though, is the health of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who missed the team’s final three games of the season, including the playoff game, due to concussion symptoms.

While concussions are unfortunately quite common in the NFL, seeing a player miss almost an entire month due to one is certainly out of the ordinary, which led to people like Stephen A. Smith saying that he believes Tua’s career is in jeopardy.

Dolphins general manager Chris Grier, however, is working overtime to defuse that narrative, as he recently told the media that Tua is no more at risk of concussions than any other player.

Asked about the concerns that players who have had concussions are susceptible to more of them, Grier says that concern is unfounded.

“From what our doctors and the consultants we’ve talked to through the NFLPA, that is not a true statement,” Grier said. “So for us, I don’t think he’s any more prone than anyone else. For us, we’re jut letting the doctors, the medical staff and the people in that field that know more. From everything we’ve been told that is not a concern.” [via ProFootballTalk]

Over the course of recent days, the Dolphins organization made clear via an Adam Schefter report that they’re committed to Tua as the team’s starting QB next year.

In the 13 games started by Tua this year, the Dolphins compiled an 8-5 record. As for Tua, he completed 65% of his passes for 3,548 yards, 25 touchdowns, and eight interceptions this season.
