Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell and Sixers forward Ben Simmons are currently neck and neck to win this year’s “Rookie of the Year” award. Mitchell has taken exception to Simmons calling himself a rookie because he feels that the Sixers guard should not be qualified for the “ROY” due to redshirting a year with an injury.
Mitchell even donned a hilarious hoodie that defined what a “rookie” is.

Mitchell had some fun with the debate, arriving ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Warriors wearing a hoodie that read: “Rookie: An athlete playing his or her first season as a member of a professional sports team.” It offered a lighthearted jab at Simmons’ status as a “redshirt rookie” after he spent what would have been his original rookie season sidelined with an injury.

During tonight’s game 1 between the Celtics-Sixers series, the Boston crowd hilariously trolled Simmons by chanting “not a rookie” as he shot free throws.
