The Drake Curse was (still is?) a very real thing. The Canadian rapper has put hexes on sports teams and players for a while now, with every sports fan worried when the guy shows up wearing their favorite squad’s colors. But with Drake’s hometown Toronto Raptors winning last season’s NBA championship, could the Drake Curse finally be over with? Quite possibly, but we’ll have to wait and see.

For fans of the rapper, Drake dropped some new music this morning in a release called Care Package, which is a collection of songs that were floating around on SoundCloud or online over the years. One of the songs included on the compilation album — which consists of songs released between 2010 and 2016 that weren’t available before today — is a tune called “Draft Day,” which he put together in 2014, where he directly drops the names of Johnny Manziel and Andrew Wiggins.

Literally, the opening lines of “Draft Day” go like this:

Draft day, Johnny Manziel

Five years later how am I the man still

Draft day, A. Wiggins

Fuck that other side bitch we stay winnin’

While both Manziel and Wiggins are probably stoked to be mentioned in a Drake song, considering their careers haven’t quite gone as they hoped, which both perceived as busts, people on Twitter couldn’t help but think that this, right here, was the beginning of the Drake Curse. Take a look at what some people had to say after hearing the tune, and relating it back to the Toronto rapper.

It might be all fun and games to laugh at the Drake Curse nowadays after Kawhi Leonard’s superhuman performance in the NBA Playoffs helped (possibly) kill it, but, for Johnny Manziel and Andrew Wiggins, it might have impacted their respective pro sports careers. Who knew that Drake had such power over real life with his lyrics, right?
