It’s Panic Time For The Philadelphia Eagles After A Late Collapse

Three weeks ago, the Philadelphia Eagles were 10-1 and the class of the NFL. Now, after a third-straight loss coming on Monday night to the Seattle Seahawks, it is time to panic in the City of Brotherly Love.

To make matters worse, it’s a game they should’ve won, and led wire-to-wire, only to see the team’s biggest weakness, the secondary, blow it in the final minute.

With the Eagles up 17-13, they had a chance to run the clock out in the four-minute offense, which should be a strength of the team. They took a considerable amount of time off the clock, but had to punt the ball back to the Seahawks at the two-minute warning.

What happened on the Seahawks drive was, from the Eagles’ perspective, a disaster. They let the Seahawks go 92 yards in 10 plays in 84 seconds to give up the game-winning touchdown with 28 seconds left.

Credit to Drew Lock for leading a fantastic two-minute drive, by the way.

But, the focus coming out of this game is on the Eagles. They’re regressing on both sides of the ball all over the roster.

Jalen Hurts was the MVP favorite after that week 12 dramatic win over the Bills. Since then, he has not been good at all. That continued on Monday. Hurts was just 17/31 for just 146 yards and two fourth-quarter interceptions. He did add 82 yards on 13 carries with two touchdowns, but the regression in the passing game is significant.

It’s been known for a while that the back seven of the Eagles defense was not a strength. But, a highly-touted group of defensive linemen was supposed to make up for it. That’s simply not happening, and the back seven is getting exposed like it did on that long drive.

Both coordinators are first-year coordinators in Phildelphia, and offensive coordinator Brian Johnson and Sean Desai have not had good years. Desai actually was stripped of playcalling duties in favor of Matt Patricia. The problem is, Matt Patricia isn’t any good either.

Yes, this team is still 10-4 with three games remaining where they should be heavy favorites. But, it’s time for head coach Nick Sirianni and his team to start panicking, as another year of this Super Bowl window could go to waste.
