Ed Orgeron’s final game as the head coach of the LSU Tigers came and went on November 27, 2021. The 60-year-old Louisiana-native agreed to part ways with the university at the end of the season in October and is getting paid big money to be unemployed.

In the meantime, he is enjoying his time off and eating a cheeseburger or two.

Ever since he was let go by LSU, there has been speculation about his future. The assumption has been that he will eventually get back into coaching and might do so with Alabama.

In recent years, the Crimson Tide has been something of a coaching rehab. From Lane Kiffin, to Brett Bielema, to Steve Sarkisian, to Bill O’Brien and quite a few others, coaches who were either recently fired or caught up in a scandal (or both) have joined Nick Saban’s staff, resurrected their careers and went on to a bigger opportunity.

Many people thought that Orgeron, after taking some time off, might be the next in line.

That will not be the case. Coach O joined WGNO ABC on Wednesday and spoke about the future.

In the present, he is looking into the idea of working in television. He also left the door open for a return to coaching.

However, he made it very clear that he will never join Alabama’s coaching staff and will never recruit the state of Louisiana for LSU’s rival. Never.
