As is obvious in the photo above from the 2022 American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Nevada, NFL stars Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Travis Kelce like playing golf and are pretty good at it.
Another famous athlete who really likes playing and is also pretty good at golf it is Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry.
None of that means that anyone wants to watch those four guys play a round, or, well, not even a full round, 12 holes of golf on TV.
Only 12 holes ??? 🤣……where are the other 6 holes ???

This concept was apparently lost on the producers of The Match because that’s exactly what is going to happen on June 23 at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas.
Oh sure, Curry, Mahomes and Allen have all already participated in an episode of The Match.
When Mahomes and Allen played there was a theme, of sorts, because Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers also competed. It was a sort of young QB-old QB vs. young QB-old QB thing. (That really should have been the event that showed everyone they were running out of ideas.)
When Curry played it was him and Peyton Manning vs. Phil Mickelson and Charles Barkley. (Not sure what the theme was with that one, nor was it very memorable.)
Now we get Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes against Steph Curry and his Warriors teammate Klay Thompson.
Are they going for a hate watch audience? Because this latest version of The Match, which will once again be televised on TNT, is drawing a whole lot of yawns on social media.
“I don’t think I want to watch this but I also kinda do?” read one commenter who is obviously leaning towards the hate watch crowd.
It is past time to just let this thing die. Amateur golfers playing 12 holes at a not even cool course. This thing has absolutely no juice left to it. https://t.co/gb8Phy4XnI

“‘I have so much interest in watching this,’ says no one,” read another comment.
"The Match" without professional golfers is less interesting than a local Amateur Tournament. https://t.co/Pujk6vTkzF

“Unwatchable,” someone else wrote.

Other words used to describe this Match on Twitter were: horrible, cringe, meh, hard pass, boring, awful, lame, disaster, dumb, and stupid.
The Match sure has fallen a long way from the epic inaugural even pitting Tiger Woods against Phil Mickelson.
Also, God forbid someone in the media calls Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes the underdogs in this event between now and then.
