Oklahoma QB General Booty is in the transfer portal after spending two seasons in Norman. With the Sooners, he saw action in two games, failing to record any stats in his reserve role.
That status as a backup had little effect on his ability to land major NIL partnerships while at OU. He’ll now bring that history of success with him to a new school while also looking for a home that offers more playing time.
Booty landed at Oklahoma ahead of the 2022 season after playing at JUCO program Tyler in Texas. With the Apaches, he started 12 contests, throwing for 3,410 yards and 27 scores.
He buoyed that production into a scholarship offer, suiting up for recently hired head coach Brent Venables.
Unfortunately, he was unable to crack the starting lineup with the Sooners. Transfer Dillon Gabriel was QB1 in each of Booty’s two years on campus.
Gabriel is now gone, but Booty’s role as a reserve apparently still remained. Though he did score on a 32-yard touchdown scamper in the Sooners’ spring game, highly touted passer Jackson Arnold is expected to take the reins under center this fall.
Looking for an uptick in playing time, he’s opted to leave Oklahoma.

Despite sitting on the sidelines for his two seasons in Norman, the passer was a machine on the NIL trail. His name, alone, presented incredible opportunities with major brands, and he capitalized in a big way.

Booty also heard from clothing line American Eagle, and even released his own personal merch displaying taglines like, ‘General Booty Reporting for Duty’ and ‘Booty Call.’ A percentage of proceeds from those sales were used to benefit a local children’s hospital.

It will be interesting to see where the passer ends up. Wherever it is, that NIL exposure is sure to follow!
