New York Giants Set Record That Nobody Wants To Set After Terrible Loss To Cowboys

The New York Giants have been, frankly, a terrible football team this year. And, things reached a new low on Sunday in their blowout loss to the Cowboys.

The Giants have been on the wrong end of a ton of blowouts so far this year, including a week one blowout loss to Dallas, 40-0. But, Sunday’s embarrassing performance may have been the worst.

Usually, people are talking about the point differential when discussing biggest blowouts. Arguably, the better way to measure a game’s competitiveness in a blowout is based on total yardage for each team. And, the stats were not pretty for the Giants on Sunday. Take a look.

Yikes. The total yardage was 640-172. 172 total yards of offense is pretty bad, but you’ll see that a handful of times each season. But giving up 640 yards on defense? That’s horrific. And, unlike the Giants’ offense, the Giants defense is relatively healthy.

The only reason the score was as “close” as it ended up was due to two Cowboys interceptions that stopped drives they likely would have scored on.

Sadly for fans of the G-Men, the team has seven more games this. With Tommy DeVito looking likely to be the starting quarterback for the remainder of the season, an already terrible Giants offense will be historically awful.

Luckily for Giants fans, with the team currently at 2-8, they’ve moved up to the second-pick in the 2024 NFL Draft order if the season ended today. The franchise obviously needs a franchise quarterback, and picking there would give them a chance at selecting either UNC’s Drake Maye or Caleb Williams.

Still, that won’t be much consolation to Giants fans, who saw their team lose twice in blowouts to their bitter rivals in Dallas.

It seems like the jobs of head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are safe. But, there’s a long rebuild ahead of them.
