Tyrod Taylor made history for the New York Giants on Sunday by beating the Washington Commanders 14-7.

Stepping in for injured starting quarterback Daniel Jones, Taylor became the first black quarterback in Giants team history to win a game, a franchise that exist for almost 100 years.

Taylor led the way with 304 total yards and threw two touchdowns. This was his second start for the team since the Daniel Jones injury.

Taylor joined Geno Smith, as the only black quarterback to start a game for New York.

Smith started against the Raiders back in 2017 when Eli Manning was briefly benched, only for Eli to return to the starting lineup the following week. In that game, Geno completed 21 of 34 passes, racking up 212 yards, 1 touchdown, and no interceptions.

Tyrod Taylor’s career in NFL began as a 6th round pick in the 2011 Draft by the Ravens. Tyrod was Joe Flacco’s backup in Baltimore, he then ventured to the Bills, where he became the starting quarterback for three seasons. Notably, he was a Pro-Bowl selection in 2015 and guided the Bills to the playoffs in 2017.

However, Taylor’s path took a turn when the Bills drafted Josh Allen as the 7th overall pick in the 2018 Draft, leading to his departure from Buffalo.

His journey continued with stints as a backup quarterback for the Chargers, Texans, and now, the Giants.

Giants fans are probably wondering if Tyrod Taylor should remain the starter, because the team has been struggling under Daniel Jones, despite signing him to a $160 million contract this offseason.
