Greg Olsen Tells Adam Schefter To Put Respect On His Name As One Of The NFL’s Top Receiving TEs

Former NFL pass catcher Greg Olsen took some time to teach reporter Adam Schefter a history lesson on Sunday. The tight end hit Schefty with the “Community Notes” following a post about Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

In that tweet, Schefter attempted to highlight Kelce’s impressive receiving resume. It backfired immediately when information provided turned out to be incorrect.

Kelce is in the midst of another productive season, and with just 16 yards in the Chiefs’ final game, he’ll eclipse 1,000 yards for the eighth straight year.

Schefter noted the impressive feat but overlooked Olsen when expanding on the rarity of the accomplishment.

“No other tight end ever has recorded more than two straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons,” Schefter closed his message.

Followers (including Olsen!) quickly pointed out the mistake.

“I’d like a word,” the tight end responded on X.

Olsen recorded three straight 1,000-yard seasons between 2014 and 2016 while playing for the Carolina Panthers. In each year, he made the Pro Bowl.

Others have come close to the feat, most notably Jason Witten. The former Dallas tight end broke the 900-yard mark in six consecutive seasons but failed to get to 1,000 yards in two of those campaigns.

Rob Gronkowski also posted four 1,000-yard seasons between 2011 and 2017, including a 1,327-yard year, but injuries kept him from stringing together more than two in a row.

Schefter owned up to the mistake online, though he hasn’t taken down the original post as of this writing.

“Stand corrected. Greg Olsen had three straight 1,000 yard receiving seasons, the second longest streak in NFL history for any tight end behind Travis Kelce,” the reporter wrote.
