The NFC Championship game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Detroit Lions was the last NFL game of the season to be aired on Fox, therefore making it the last appearance of broadcasting duo Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen of the season, and perhaps forever.

With Tom Brady set to begin his stint as Fox Sports’ lead color commentator next season, the former Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers, and Seattle Seahawks tight end is facing a likely demotion, which is an idea that has NFL fans fuming given how great Olsen has been this year as the network’s lead guy.

Olsen’s future with the network is currently uncertain given the impending arrival of Brady, who signed an outrageous 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox Sports soon after his retirement in early 2023.

Unfortunately for NFL fans, CBS has the broadcasting rights to this year’s Super Bowl, meaning that Jim Nantz and Tony Romo — whom the football world seems to be largely sick of — will be calling the matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.

At this time, 13 days until the Super Bowl kicks off, the Niners are narrowly favored over the defending champion Chiefs by one point.

While ESPN recently signed Joe Buck and Troy Aikman for Monday Night Football and CBS Sports likely sticking with Nantz and Romo, the most obvious potential landing spot for Olsen would be NBC, who are in desperate need of a talent infusion, as their current crew of Mike Tirico, Cris Collinsworth, Maria Taylor, Tony Dungy, Jason Garrett, and Chris Simms is widely considered to be the worst in the sport.
