Patrick Beverley’s NBA season came to an incredibly ignominious end thanks to what transpired during and after the final game of the first-round series between the Bucks and the Pacers, and he’s now facing some potential legal trouble thanks to what transpired between him and a fan.

Last week, the Milwaukee Bucks were sent home from the playoffs courtesy of the Indiana Pacers, who earned the right to face off against the Knicks after punching their ticket to the next round with a 120-98 victory in front of the home crowd that gathered at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for Game 6.

Patrick Beverley was basically a non-factor in a contest where he scored a grand total of six points in the 40 minutes he spent on the court, but he nonetheless made multiple headlines thanks to what transpired off of it.

The man commonly referred to as “Pat Bev” understandably caught some heat after the game for refusing to answer questions from an ESPN reporter because she wasn’t subscribed to his podcast.

He eventually apologized after a number of her fellow media members came to her defense and helped make it one of the bigger stories to come out of the night, which is pretty wild when you consider it arguably managed to overshadow what probably should have been a bigger area of focus: the incident where Beverley chucked a ball at a fan sitting near the Milwaukee bench.

A subsequent report asserted the fan who was targeted by Beverley drew his ire by yelling “Cancun on 3!” while the Bucks were in the huddle in the closing minutes of their season-ending loss. However, he implied they’d said something a bit more incendiary while apologizing for his actions on his podcast.

He may want to put the situation behind him, but according to Shams Chariana, that may be easier said than done now that the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has dispatched detectives to review video of the incident and question the individuals involved after deciding to launch an official investigation into the matter.

Based on what transpired in the video, it’s very, very hard to imagine Beverley will end up facing any serious legal repercussions when everything is said and done, but this certainly throws an interesting twist into things.
