The arena football game between the Vegas Knight Hawks and Arizona Rattlers very quickly got out of hand when head coaches Mike Davis and Kevin Guy started going at each other in the fourth quarter. Indoor Football League officials had to step in to prevent a bench-clearing brawl.
No love is lost!
Should these two arena football teams meet again in the playoffs, the head coaches will be on full notice. An ejection over the weekend increased the amount of preexisting tension between two bitter rivals!
The Vegas Knight Hawks defeated the Arizona Rattlers.
Believe it or not, for those who are not familiar with the current landscape of arena football, there are several active leagues in the United States. We are focused only on the largest and longest-running.
The Indoor Football League was founded 18 years ago. It features 14 teams across 11 states, including the Vegas Knight Hawks and the Arizona Rattlers.
Vegas is based out of Henderson, Nevada. Arizona is based out of Glendale. They are two of the five highest-scoring teams in the league and the two highest-ranked teams in the Western Conference. Therefore, Sunday night’s game between the Knight Hawks and Rattlers had major implications.
It was just as good as advertised! Both teams combined for more than 440 yards of total offense (on a 50-yard field), 38 first downs and 89 points with only one turnover. Vegas defeated Arizona by a final score of 52-37 even though it had the ball on offense for only 7:42 compared to 22:18.
The Knight Hawks, led by former Arizona standout Jayden de Laura, had everything click on offense.

An epic kickoff return touchdown also helped to keep their time of possession to a minimum.

Vegas took command of the Western Conference with the win. The Rattlers are now one game back.
However, the actual game itself was not the biggest storyline from the afternoon.
Indoor Football League officials had to break up a fight.
Arizona head coach Kevin Guy used one of his challenges during the fourth quarter to try and force a turnover on downs. The call on the field ultimately stood as called. It was not a successful challenge.
Vegas head coach Mike Davis walked past Guy after the ruling was announced. The latter put his hands on the former. The former pushed the latter right back. Tempers flared from there.
IFL officials had to step in to break them up. Players were kept at a distance. Multiple flags were thrown.
Upon further review, Guy was issued an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and was removed from the sideline. Davis clapped and cheered his ejection on the way out.

When asked about what happened, Guy vowed to “knock out” Davis the next he sees him.

Unfortunately, these two teams will not play again during the Indoor Football League regular season so we will not get to see if Kevin Guy will make good on his promise unless they play during the playoffs. Fortunately, that is very possible. Mike Davis should be on notice.
