Draymond Green made headlines earlier this offseason for punching teammate Jordan Poole during a practice session. The incident caught the attention of the NBA world and caused a rift between players on the Golden State roster.

The Warriors were the top dogs in 2022, taking home the NBA crown. That championship led to offseason decisions on whether or not to keep the team together.

Jordan Poole was a key piece to that title run, providing a productive option off the bench. After his 2021-22 campaign, he’s looking to cash in on a contract extension to remain in San Francisco.

Those contract talks reportedly led to a change in Poole’s attitude over the offseason, one that Draymond Green did not take a liking to. Tensions were rumored to have been building between the two teammates, and just a few short weeks ago, they finally boiled over.

The punch had been put behind the team for the most part as preseason action neared closer. No suspensions were handed down. Poole seemed to let the jab slide, saying he was happy in Golden State and focused on winning another ring. Green, too, echoed those sentiments.

That is, until he decided to find a way to profit on the sucker punch.

Draymond taped a documentary detailing the offseason lead up, including the punch, prior to Golden State’s season opener.

The first part of the series aired on TNT ahead of Tuesday night’s game versus the Lakers. Fans are now talking about what they saw online.

A clip of Green discussing the punch is circulating social media. The forward downplayed the incident, then tried to play the victim.

“I woke up to the video… I never really knew how much it blew up. I don’t spend much time searching Instagram and looking through comments…I was just at home chillin’ with my children.”

The dramatic music makes it that much better.

But wait, there’s more. Green continued on to say, “The world has been able to see one of your worst moments. Look at the upside. I can live with that.”

Here’s what the viewers had to say.

One person wrote, “The music to make this emotional is cracking me up lmao wtf is this.”

Another fan posted, “‘I didn’t know people would care that I sucker punched my teammate’ is peak Draymond Green.”

This Twitter user commented, “LMFAOOOOOOOOOO ain’t no way they gave this man a 20/20 interview like he the victim.”

This story keeps dragging out. Draymond hasn’t gotten a ton of sympathy from fans thus far.
