Marvin Harrison Jr. is expected to be selected in the top five of the 2024 NFL Draft. If the Panthers keep losing and the Bears hold onto their first pick, he might go No. 1 overall.

Either way, the Pro Football Hall of Famer’s son is going to be the first wide receiver off of the board. Unless he returns to Ohio State…

There has been a lot of talk about the potential of Harrison playing another year in Columbus. All of that chatter appeared to be silenced on Tuesday.

The Buckeyes are currently in Dallas — which is not a desert — ahead of the Cotton Bowl on Friday. They will face the Missouri Tigers and opened as 6.5-point favorites.

It has since moved to -1.

Harrison likely had a role in that swing. His status for the game is “officially” unclear. Neither Ohio State nor the superstar pass-catcher have indicated whether he is going to play or opt out.

Based on the most recent update, Harrison has seemingly elected to sit.

The Buckeyes went through their third practice of Cotton Bowl week on Tuesday. It was the first practice that was open to members of the media.

Harrison was not in uniform. He wore his jersey and street clothes while on the exercise bike.

It is possible that Harrison is going to play without practicing. It is possible that he is rehabbing a minor undisclosed injury and chose rest and recovery on Tuesday. Ryan Day might have played mind games and allowed/asked Harrison to sit out in hopes of throwing Eli Drinkwitz and Mizzou off of the scent.

Probably not.

Marvin Harrison Jr. sitting out on Tuesday is a pretty clear indication that his college football career is over. Should he play on Friday, it would come as a big surprise. He’s not going to play.
