Isaiah Bond announced his commitment to the University of Texas on Sunday. The former five-star wide receiver recruit decided to leave Alabama on Wednesday after Nick Saban retired.

Bond led the Crimson Tide in catches last season and finished second on the team in receiving. Now, less than seven days later, he is set to play his third year of college football for the Longhorns in 2024.

While speaking to Pete Thamel of ESPN, Bond said that the move is a “business decision.”

Just like the business world, you make the best decision for your company. My company right now is my draft stock. I feel like I’m putting myself in a position to increase that and have a better draft stock.

The 5-foot-11, 182-pound receiver is going to play a crucial role in Texas’ national championship hopes next season. Quinn Ewers will love having a new, explosive weapon at his disposal.

While Bond visited Austin over the weekend and committed to the staff while in town, it was expected that he would end up as a Longhorn as soon as he entered the portal. Lane Kiffin predicted the move on Friday.

Bond said that Saban’s retirement was his lone reason for leaving Alabama. He was going to stay for third year, what will likely be his last, but reversed course after the greatest coach of all-time stepped down from his post.

Kalen DeBoer reached out to gauge interest in a return but, according to ESPN, Bond did not even reply. Ice cold.

When speaking about Texas, Bond said that he “likes the whole package that comes with it.” Although his quote was in reference to the offensive line and quarterback, it may have also had an underlying meaning.

Less than 24 hours prior to his commitment, Bond supposedly posted a photo on snapchat from the inside of a Lamborghini at the dealership in Austin. He may have shared the image on his “private” story, but he should know that everything eventually leaks.

Lamborghini Austin has partnered with multiple Texas athletes on deals for their Name, Image and Likeness in the past. Bijan Robinson was the first.

Perhaps Isaiah Bond will soon sign a deal of his own? Perhaps that is part of the package?
