In the matter of seven years, Jameis Winston went from Heisman Trophy winner, to college football national champion, to No. 1 overall pick, to Pro Bowler, to the NFL’s league leader in passing yards, to… out of a fucking job. Life comes at you fast, doesn’t it, and, in the case of Winston, he’s now an unemployed 26-year-old pro quarterback with no clue where he might continue his NFL career.

Of course, the guy replacing Jameis Winston as the starting signal-caller for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is no slouch, since, you know, Tom Brady’s the perceived GOAT thanks to his numerous passing records and six Super Bowl rings. Still, if you’re Winston, it has to suck anytime somebody asks about the team choosing another player over you — despite that guy’s accolades.

Unfortunately, Winston had to deal with that question as a guest on Fox News Wednesday morning, with host Ed Henry dropping the bomb and savagely asking the former No. 1 overall pick his thoughts on Brady stealing his job on the Bucs away from him, as well as the recent announcement of the athlete’s wedding. To his credit, Jameis handled it like a pro, so take a look below at the exchange.

Good lord, Ed Henry has no soul at all. While the host does try to set up the question in a playful manner, asking Jameis Winston what he thinks about Tom Brady taking his job is like asking some dude what he thinks of his ex-girlfriend’s new man. Jameis handled it like a fucking pro, but, sheesh, many athletes may have taken the bait and laid into both the host and/or the franchise for turning their backs on him.

Once Twitter saw Henry’s question, they couldn’t help but react in some way. Take a look below at the replies on social media to the video.

Kudos to Jameis Winston for dealing with the question in stride and giving an honest response (all while keeping his cool). The dude deflected it perfectly and put the emphasis back on what the interview was supposed to be all about anyway, the hotline he set up to help launch a coronavirus hotline for people who need help. Take notes, future NFL players, because this is how you handle the media.
