Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart has that dawg in him. The third-year year junior takes a beating on the field every single week but has not let that hinder his ability to step up in big moments and make plays.

Dart is currently dealing with a nagging ailment that dates back to the Rebels’ loss to the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs in Athens earlier this month, if not before. It might be an ankle. It might be his foot.

Nobody outside of the program really knows for sure. The team has not said anything official. Dart has repeatedly stated that he’s good to go— because he is.

Ole Miss will travel south to Starkville for the Egg Bowl on Thanksgiving.

On Monday night, ESPN senior writer Chris Low reported that Dart’s status is up in the air.

Worth keeping an eye on Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart, who was banged up in last week’s game and didn’t practice Monday. With a short week, Rebels will have a better feel for how healthy he is closer to Thursday’s game at Mississippi State.

The source of Low’s speculation is unclear.

Perhaps someone inside the Rebels program decided to leak a little bit of smoke to make the Bulldogs waste some time preparing for backup Spencer Sanders just in case. It could have been gamesmanship from Lane Kiffin.

Regardless of the root, Dart’s dad was quick to shut Low down for the false report.

That’s weird! I was at practice and can confirm Jaxson taking his regular reps. Carry on, there is no need to wait!

If Jaxson Dart and Ole Miss can beat Mississippi State on Thursday night, it would mark just the second 10-win regular season in program history. Kiffin was responsible for the first in 2021.

Additionally, if the Rebels bring the Golden Egg back to Oxford, Kiffin would become just the second coach in school history to record multiple 10-win seasons. Johnny Vaught last reached that mark in 1959.

Dart will be on the field. He is ready to go and Low’s report missed the mark.

However, if something changes before kickoff, there is no reason that Ole Miss should lose the upcoming rivalry game. Even if Sanders is forced to play. But that isn’t going to be the case.
