The Boston Celtics blew a 3-1 series lead to the Philadelphia 76ers to find themselves out of the NBA playoffs after the opening round. But star player Jaylen Brown wants everyone to know that it’s not their fault.

Instead, Brown said on a Twitch livestream following the series that the Celtics were robbed by poor refereeing. More specifically, he claimed that there was a conspiracy among NBA referees to unfairly target Boston players, and Brown specifically.

Moreover, Brown says that NBA referees even told him that they were targeting him.

Jaylen Brown Claims NBA Referees Had An Agenda Against Him For Speaking Out

Why would NBA referees have it out for Brown and the Celtics? He claimed on the stream that it was all because of the fact that he’d been critical of referees earlier in the season.

“They clearly had an agenda, maybe because I spoke so critical on them in the regular season,” Brown said.

But then he took things a step further. Brown doesn’t just think there was a conspiracy against him; he knows it. And how does he know it? Because NBA referees told him!

“I actually spoke to some refs and they told me there’s an agenda going on each game every time Jaylen puts his hands up just call it”

Hard to argue with that evidence! According to Brown, he received a straight-up confession from multiple referees that they have an agenda against him!

But Brown didn’t stop there. He also went on to claim that this was his favorite season of his NBA career so far. Now, that’s fine when you look at his individual success, especially with Jayson Tatum on the shelf.

But it’s a pretty bad look when you consider that he won a championship two seasons ago, and his team just blew a 3-1 lead in the opening round of the playoffs.

For years, fans have speculated that Brown and Tatum aren’t on the best of terms, largely because both see themselves as the team’s No. 1 player. These comments seem to confirm that viewpoint, at least from Brown’s standpoint.

At this point, someone should probably advise Brown to stop digging.
