The 2022 NFL season didn’t end the way the Dallas Cowboys had hoped.

After entering yet another year with big expectations and finishing the regular season with a 12-5 record, they were once again unable to make it past the Divisional Round.

That disappointment came as a result of the offense struggling against the 49ers.

That struggle included a pair of interceptions from Dak Prescott, which was an issue that was also prevalent during the regular season.

Despite only playing 12 games in 2022, Dak tied for the NFL lead in interceptions with 15.

Now that’s the one thing the team’s owner is focusing on for the 2023 season.

Today, Jerry Jones revealed to the media that his expectation for Dak Prescott is for him to take care of the football next season.

“What I expect is not the unexpected. What last year represented relative to turnovers was unexpected,” Jones said, via The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “I expect to see what we expect from Dak, which is don’t turn the ball over, be protective of the ball. When I think of Dak, that’s the first thing that comes to my mind. That’s what he does good.”

Dak Prescott has never necessarily been elite when it comes to protecting the football. He threw 10 or more interceptions in 3 of his first 6 NFL seasons and threw 4 in 5 games during one of the other 3.

However, last year he went from not elite to just bad in that category.

If Dak Prescott can even get his interception numbers back down to around 10 over 17 games, it would have a big impact on a Dallas Cowboys offense that will be dealing with a lot of changes during the 2023 season.
