Aghast Jets Fans Rip Ownership For Poor Timing Of Massive, Tone-Deaf Season Ticket Price Hike

Despite not having qualified for the playoffs since the 2010 season and are currently in the midst of yet another disappointing campaign (they’ve begun 2-5 despite entering the season with Super Bowl expectations), the New York Jets recently announced an increase on the price of season tickets.

Given the both past and present state of the organization, Jets fans are largely aghast at the decision to raise season ticket prices, especially considering both the timing and the fact that the price was just raised 24% this past year.

The Jets are on the road against the New England Patriots this week and if they lose that game and fall to 2-6, expect a rough welcome home from the MetLife Crowd when they host the Houston Texans for Thursday Night Football on Halloween night.

“The Jets raise season ticket prices again while the resale value of the tickets are [sic] crap. The team always seems to suck no matter who wears the uniform or coaches the team. Management is terrible and the culture will never change as long as Woody owns the team,” posted one frustrated Jets fan.

“Jets upped season ticket prices again, are you f—— crazy?” tweeted another, tagging owner Woody Johnson.

I have friends that go to every single Jets game just about.. even road games. Thousands of dollars spent each season… just for them to be a bottom 10 team over 14 years. They are a joke… The fan base deserves better. Send a message and just cancel your season tickets,” said another.

Johnson, who bought the team in the year 2000 — the same month that Bill Belichick infamously resigned as head coach of the team — is considered to be one of the worst owners in the four major American sports leagues, as he’s currently overseeing the longest playoff drought in the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB: 13 years and counting.

In recent years, Johnson has pushed all of his cards to the center of the table on being in win-now mode around a 40-year-old Aaron Rodgers, and thus far, he has just two wins to show for it since trading for the controversial Hall of Fame QB in April 2023.
