Joe Burrow was oh-so-close to playing in a second-straight Super Bowl. The 25-year-old Bengals’ starting quarterback watched helplessly as Harrison Butker made a game-winning field goal with three seconds left to send the Kansas City Chiefs to the Super Bowl, 23-20.
There were a ton of storylines going into the game, more than normal. Burrow had beaten Patrick Mahomes in their first three matchups of their careers, and everyone from players to the mayor of Cincinnati was talking trash.
The Mayor of Cincinnati asked for a paternity test to see if Joe Burrow is Patrick Mahomes’ father.

Afteb Pureval, the mayor of Cincinnati, did say that Arrowhead Stadium was “Burrowhead Stadium.” Chiefs’ players didn’t like that, and who could blame them?
After the game, Travis Kelce cut this WWE-style promo.

Yikes.
Chris Jones, who had a whale of a game, as did Kelce, did not appreciate the Burrowhead comment.
“Don’t you ever, ever, ever, and I’m going to look right into the camera when I say this, disrespect Arrowhead.” – Chris Jones@StoneColdJones went off!!!!! pic.twitter.com/d0yXTATBsj

And, Joe Burrow has responded.
In part, he said:
“I just think that’s what makes football fun. It’s all love at the end of the day. They know the respect that we have for them and we know the respect that they have for us. It’s an intense, emotional game and things like that are going to happen but I think that’s why the game is fun.”
At least he took it well. I’m sure this isn’t the end of the Bengals-Chiefs rivalry.
