The NBA offseason has a tendency to produce a ton of drama on a yearly basis, and last year, the Golden State Warriors treated us to a controversy for the ages courtesy of The Punch Heard Around the World.

As you likely know by now, that incident transpired after Jordan Poole allegedly did what he could to get under Draymond Green’s skin while practicing and apparently succeeded to the point where his teammate decided the only appropriate response was clocking the guard in the face.

It took Green a while to open up about what unfolded on that fateful day, and while Poole initially attempted to downplay the situation, he made it pretty clear he felt like the punch cast a shadow over the locker room during the season after the Warriors were eliminated from the playoffs.

As a result, you have to imagine both parties were satisfied with the trade that sent Poole to the Wizards earlier this month, as he’ll get a chance to start fresh while Green will no longer have to worry about the fallout continuing to fester.

It also seems like there’s a chance Green feels a bit more confident in speaking out about the punch now that he’s no longer playing with Poole, and he was more than happy to share his side of the story during a recent appearance on The Pat Bev Pod where he implied the retribution he doled out was a long time coming.

Here’s what he had to say:

“I don’t just hit people. Dialogue, of course, happens over time, and you usually ain’t just triggered by something like that fast to that degree.

This is a team. Ain’t nobody on my team triggering me in an instant. We know stuff you don’t say amongst men. We know things that you have to stand on.”

Well, it’s safe to say that attempted defense didn’t sit well with Poole’s dad Aaron, as he didn’t mince words when he clapped back at Green on Twitter to let the world know how he feels about the Warriors’ big man:

I’m stand on this that’s is some bs. Jp was his guy and he avoid me all last yr. He is a soft as b**** and I’m standing on this and he didn’t apologize to me and my wife. So he lame and me and him can meet anytime he want

On Wednesday, Green issued a response where he described Poole’s accusations as “so cute” while disputing his claims.

NBA drama is the best drama.
