Josh Reddick has been out of the MLB since 2021, most recently being spotted with the Perth Heat in Australia. The 13-year veteran recently announced that he’d be calling it quits on a professional career after his 2022-23 season in the Aussie Baseball League.

Reddick spent time with the Dodgers, A’s, Astros, Red Sox, and Diamondbacks, winning a World Series in 2017 with Houston. Midway through the 2021 campaign, Arizona released him, leading to a stint in Mexico, and now Australia.

Apparently, he believes if he’d done things a bit differently, he’d still be making money in the majors.

Reddick recently threw major shade at Cody Bellinger, who just signed a new deal with the Chicago Cubs. The former Gold Glover posted a message on Twitter bashing Bellinger’s offensive stat line shortly after his $17.5M agreement went public.

I guess I should have tried to hit .200 and strikeout 150 times a year. Probably could have made $20 million a year at this point.

The jab points directly at Bellinger’s most recent season in Los Angeles where the outfielder hit .210 with 150 Ks. The year prior, Bellinger posted a .165 average with 94 strikeouts in 95 games.

Despite those struggles at the plate, the Cubs signed the former Dodger to a lofty one-year deal.

Reddick seems a bit salty due to the fact that he only struck out more than 80 times in a season once and hit .262 as a pro. Unfortunately, he didn’t boast the power seen in today’s game where an “all or nothing” approach is becoming more popular. I mean, look no further than last year’s AL MVP in Aaron Judge, who hit a Yankee record 62 bombs while striking out 175 times.

No longer do we see the Wade Boggs and Tony Gwynns of the MLB who used contact to get on base at every opportunity possible. It’s now, “Go deep or go home,” with whiffs being rewarded rather than shamed.

Josh Reddick will have to take his outdated approach overseas for one final season. Cody Bellinger might offer some crisp $100 bills for Reddick’s tears.
