Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: the Los Angeles Chargers are a massive disappointment.
While it’s only been two games, the Chargers already find themselves in crisis mode as they’ve fallen to both the Miami Dolphins and Tenessee Titans to open the season.
This, of course, is coming off of a playoff loss last season that saw them blow a massive 27-point lead against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
One moment in the game perfectly highlights how fed up Chargers fans are with the team, as a clip of Justin Herbert doing a bizarre rifle-themed audible went viral.
A tweet that went particularly viral suggested that Herbert wasn’t actually audibling but simply threatening head coach Brandon Staley, who already finds himself on the hot seat after just two games.
Wasn’t an audible, he was literally just threatening Brandon Staley on the sidelines https://t.co/goEwSj2wXW

In fact, there were tons of tweets cracking the same kind of joke, indicating that the Chargers’ fan base has truly run out of patience when it comes to Staley’s coaching.

Not even calling an audible. Just threatening Brandon Staley on the sideline. https://t.co/OqV6W0WQVN

In the 27-24 loss to Ryan Tannehill and the Tennessee Titans — which ended on a game-winning field goal as time expired — Herbert completed 27 of 41 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns.
The Chargers will look to get their first win of the season next Sunday when they take on the equally desperate Minnesota Vikings, who are also 0-2. From there, the Chargers open their October slate of games with a matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Los Angeles will then close out the month with games against the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and Chicago Bears.
Given the way in which the Chargers collapsed to miss the playoffs in 2021 and were on the wrong end of a historic comeback in 2022, Staley’s leash is perhaps the shortest in the NFL right now. If the Chargers fall to 0-3, in fact, there’s a chance that the team could fire him.
