5-Star Prospect Throws Shade At Hometown School After Flipping Commitment To Alabama On NSD

A five-star prospect made a surprising decision to back off his commitment to the hometown school and instead sign with Alabama on National Signing Day.

Offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor had originally committed to play for the University of Iowa, making his pledge to the school back in June of this year.

The day before signing day, though, he had a change of heart and wound up inking a letter of intent with Nick Saban and Alabama instead. As if the decommitment didn’t hurt enough for the Hawkeyes, Proctor then threw a bit of shade Iowa’s way when asked why he decided to head down south.

“I felt like I was settling at Iowa.”

Shots fired.

Whether it be intentional or not, that remark is definitely a slight to the Hawkeyes program. Now, nobody is comparing Iowa to Alabama on the football field. One consistently competes for national titles. The other was mocked as being one of the worst offensive teams in college football this past season.

But when a high-profile player like Kadyn Proctor, who’s from Des Moines, publicly states that he’s essentially too good to join the roster, it hurts.

Proctor was the Hawkeyes’ class gem, rated as one of, if not the best offensive line prospect in the class. The five-star player will now head to Tuscaloosa where he’ll join an absolutely loaded roster. With the addition, the Crimson Tide boast the top 2023 class, featuring six five-star recruits.

Iowa fell to 37th in the latest rankings following the departure.
