Kadyn Proctor received NIL money during his brief stint at Iowa before transferring back to Alabama. That is now confirmed.

However, the funds did not come directly from a collective.

Proctor received payment from a sponsoring business. Although the deal was facilitated by SWARM, Iowa’s top NIL arm, it did not include any money directly from the collective’s funds.

CEO Brad Heinrichs made that abundantly clear in a statement on Thursday.

Proctor, a five-star prospect from Des Moines, was the top-ranked offensive lineman in the Class of 2023. A timeline of his recruitment and brief college football career has been a rollercoaster.

Hawkeyes fans were/are furious with how everything went down. Understandably so.

They were most upset that they donated money to the SWARM collective — for Proctor — only for him to take the money and go back to play for the Crimson Tide. However, that is not quite what happened.

Heinrichs cleared that up in his statement.

Proctor did receive less than six figures in NIL money from an unnamed business that supports Iowa athletics. He had to complete a marketing component to receive payment. He also received a lease to a truck but will have to give back the keys before making his return to Tuscaloosa.

SWARM served as the middle man for the deal.

Kadyn Proctor did not receive any money directly from the collective. All of the money that is donated to the fund by fans and supporters is separate from the money he received while in Iowa City for less than three months.
