Kadyn Proctor set the college football world on fire with a recent report of an upcoming transfer. He’d previously ditched Tuscaloosa after one season at Alabama, with the former five-star offensive lineman eventually landing at Iowa.

Two months later, he appears to be having second thoughts. That initial transfer came amid uncertainty surrounding the Crimson Tide program. Legendary coach Nick Saban had just retired, giving players on the roster a decision to make in terms of their future.

Wait it out with the next hire or find a new program?

Proctor chose the ladder, returning home to suit up for Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes. Or, at least that was the original plan.

Before ever taking the field, the lineman appears destined for the transfer portal once again, with reports hinting at a return to Alabama. But why?

Scott Dochterman of The Athletic filled readers in on what’s transpired during his time on campus in Iowa City.

The five-star offensive tackle, who joined the Hawkeyes after one season at Alabama, told Iowa he will leave the program, coach Kirk Ferentz said in a statement Tuesday. Iowa opens spring football practice on Wednesday. Proctor, who went on spring break last week with several former Alabama teammates, will return to Tuscaloosa.

That spring break trip with Alabama players stood out, especially considering the program and its fans might’ve helped pay for it!

Kadyn Proctor reportedly took NIL money while on campus at Iowa, even landing a partnership with a local car dealership.

Proctor received payment through The Swarm Collective and promoted one car dealership on social media but had yet to practice with the team.

Fans, in fact, were rumored to have raised six figures in hopes of prying him from Tuscaloosa earlier this offseason. The plan worked, but ever so briefly.

It’s now the second time Proctor’s pulled the rug from under Iowa’s feet, as he also flipped his Hawkeyes commitment late in his initial recruiting process, meaning all he’s done for his in-state program was land them an NCAA violation!

Those same supporters might not be so eager to donate their hard-earned cash for the next star player.

Pain.

While Proctor’s mind seems made up, he will have until April 15th to make his final decision.
