The NCAA transfer portal yet against showed its unpredictability on Tuesday.

Two months ago, former five-star Alabama offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor left the Crimson Tide to return home and play for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Now, two months later, it appears that Proctor has had a change of heart.

Proctor re-entered the portal, according to Scott Dochterman of On3.

David Eickholt of 247Sports added to that report, claiming that Proctor has opted to return to Tuscaloosa and continue his career for the Crimson Tide.

Kadyn Proctor Caused Chaos With First Entry Into Transfer Portal

Proctor’s transfer to Iowa was clouded in controversy after the 6-foot-8, 365-pound tackle revealed he had contact with Iowa coaches in the middle of the Alabama season.

That opened the Hawkeyes up to potential NCAA violations.

“No bridges were burned [at Iowa.],” Proctor said in an interview shortly after announcing his initial transfer. “That’s why it was so easy for me to pick them when I did enter the transfer portal, because we still have those relationships. Even after I was doing bad in the SEC and struggling, they hit me up and said ‘We’re proud of you, you’re gonna get through this.’ And that’s what ultimately helped me with my decision.'”

Did that interview have anything to do with his decision to return?

Nobody seems to know for sure.

But it’s a big win for the Crimson Tide and new head coach Kalen DeBoer. And Proctor returns to the place he started all 14 games in 2023.
