Travis and Jason Kelce are two of the most successful players in the NFL at the moment and the brothers have built a podcast empire, but they are dead wrong about whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie. Because not only is it a Christmas movie… Die Hard is the greatest Christmas movie of all-time.

On the latest episode of New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce (Presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment), the two take some questions from viewers and one of the questions was about whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie.

Litigating this film’s Christmas status is a fool’s errand. Everyone knows it is. The film takes place on Christmas Eve. John McClane has a Christmas hat. ‘Nuff said. But the Kelce Brothers get it dead wrong here:

They say that Die Hard is not a Christmas movie and instead classify it as a “movie that you should watch around Christmas.” They further clarify that it’s “not a Christmas spirit movie because you can watch it at any time of the year.” If that’s true then why isn’t Die Hard on TV year-round? Why is it only on TV around Christmas?

To date, the only quasi-legit argument I’ve heard against it being a Christmas movie is that it is not because people die, and in order for a movie to b ea proper Christmas movie, nobody can die from murder. They might die from consumption or lack of Christmas spirit, but not from murder.

So by that strict criteria, Die Hard would not be considered a Christas movie. But by every other conceivable metric, including hte fact that the film literally takes place on Christmas eve, Die Hard is one thousand percent a Christmas movie and the Kelce Bros need to check their take about this.
