Kentucky and Louisville’s campuses are separated by less than 100 miles, and the entire state is split down the middle in terms of allegiance. Half roots for the Cardinals. Half roots for the Wildcats.

It is always going to be a war when the two college football teams get together on the gridiron. Throw the records out of the window.

A large number of players on both teams had to be separated during a chippy pregame kerfuffle. That was before they even put on the pads!

And then things took a hilarious twist right before kickoff.

Louisville, the ninth-ranked team in the country, is playing for a New Year’s Six bowl — or even a College Football Playoff bid. Kentucky is trying to improve its record to 7-5 and play the spoiler.

The Governor’s Cup, as it is called, has been played just 34 times dating back to 1914. Such infrequent meetings over the last 100+ years makes things even more vitriolic when they do play each other.

This year is not the exception!

As the Wildcats went back into the locker room, the Cardinals’ band was standing close by. Wide receiver Barion Brown, a sophomore, got into it with the instrument-wielding members.

Not only did they exchange some words back and forth, Brown threw the “Ls down” their way.

For a player to talk trash is nothing new. Especially during a rivalry game.

However, to take that trash talk and direct it toward the opposing band is taking it up a notch! What did that band do to Brown?

College football is a completely normal sport. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Having a player, who plays a relatively prominent role in the offense, chirp at the marching band is amazing. We love it when things like that happen. It’s the best!
