Kliff Kingsbury Took His Arizona Cardinals Buyout And Did What Every Single Coach Should Do

When I was young I wanted to be a race car driver. Or maybe a SportsCenter host. Who didn’t love Stuart Scott?

But these days I’m old and washed up, so my dream jobs have become a bit more practice.

I’ve since realized that the best job on the planet is fired NFL or Division I FBS head football coach. Mind you, I don’t want to actually have either of those jobs first, but I would like the perks that come after them.

Not only to fired coaches not have to do anything, because they’re no longer actually employed. But more often than not they leave their previous job with a whole lotta cash. Take former Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach Scott Frost, for instance. I like to imagine he’s just spending his days diving into a big ol’ pile of gold coins like Scrooge McDuck.

But most of these coaches just can’t stay away from the game. So rather than sipping mai thais on some beach on an island that most of the population doesn’t know exists, they slave away in coordinator or analyst jobs in hopes of one day reaching the head coaching world again.

Not Kliff Kingsbury, however. Nooooope, that handsome devil has it all figured out.

Kliff Kingsbury Reportedly Left For Thailand After Being Fired By Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals parted ways with Kingsbury earlier this week after a disastrous 4-13 season. Kingsbury finished his four-year run in Arizona with a 28-37-1 record.

But don’t fret, because Kingsbury has a plan. The former Texas Tech star signed a new five-year contract over the summer worth a reported $5.5 million per season.

He stands to make a good chunk of that money even after being fired. And when NFL and college teams came calling, he didn’t have to think long about his response.

Fox Sports writer Peter Schrager reports that Kingsbury has since hopped a flight to Thailand and is not entertaining coaching in the immediate future.

This is the way. And many fans seem to agree.

There is only one dream job, and it’s fired head coach.
