The La Lakers are working hard to pick up Anthony Davis before Thursday’s trade deadline.

Last week, the LA Times reported that the Lakers had offered several different scenarios for the Pelicans to choose from including a monster deal that would have sent multiple young players and a first round pick to New Orleans.

The Lakers sent five offers to the Pelicans on Wednesday. One of the options offered Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Ivica Zubac and a first-round pick, multiple sources said.

The Pelicans apparently rejected that offer and wanted the Lakers to include more draft picks, cap relief along with the players listed.

With the NBA’s trade deadline approaching, the Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans have yet to discuss the offers the Lakers made for six-time All-Star forward Anthony Davis, but that conversation is expected to take place next week.

The Pelicans are considering a counter offer that would ask for two first-round picks and add a Pelicans player to the deal, according to people with knowledge of the situation who requested anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski the Lakers have reacted to the Pelicans counter offer and are “moving closer” to meeting New Orleans’ demands for Davis.

We’ll see if the Lakers can pull this off before the trade deadline.
