The Baltimore Ravens fell at home in overtime to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday to register their first loss of the season.

Making the win more impressive for the Colts is the fact that they did it without their starting quarterback, rookie Anthony Richardson.

Despite the fact that the Colts were without Richardson β€” and that all teams deal with injuries β€” Ravens QB Lamar Jackson took to Twitter to make excuses for the loss all the same by pointing out the list of Baltimore players who are currently sidelined.

In the loss to the Colts, Jackson completed 22 of 31 passes for 202 yards and also carried the ball 14 times for 101 yards and two touchdowns.

It’s certainly not the type of response you want to see from a franchise quarterback in the first year of his massive new deal, as the NFL simply isn’t a place for excuses.

The Arizona Cardinals, for example, who traded for their current starting QB Joshua Dobbs just about two weeks before the start of the season, just beat down the Dallas Cowboys over the weekend, who everyone was crowning as the best team in the league just days prior.

The Ravens will next take on the 2-1 Cleveland Browns in a 1 p.m. matchup on Sunday, October 1. Currently, three teams in the AFC North have 2-1 records: the Ravens, Browns, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

So far through three games this season, Jackson has completed 73% of his passes for 608 yards for two touchdowns and one interception. He’s also carried the ball 32 times for 193 yards and another two touchdowns.

During the offseason, Jackson signed a five-year, $260 million contract with the Ravens β€” the team that drafted the 26-year-old signal-caller out of the University of Louisville in 2018 β€” after what felt like years of negotiations.
