Giants ace Logan Webb is not fond of New York Mets fans. The pitcher recently recalled his first big league encounter at Citi Field where he says he was nearly decapitated by a baseball thrown from the stands.

There’s not much that’s been able to rattle Webb, who’s posted double-digit wins in each of his last three seasons. Developing into one of the MLB’s best, he’s gone 37-25 with an ERA of just 3.07 since the start of his 2021 campaign.

That type of success can often make you a target when visiting road venues.

He noted his debut appearance in the Big Apple while speaking on the Chris Rose Rotation podcast this week.

“I had a baseball thrown at me in Citi Field,” Webb said when asked about road atmospheres. “It was this 15-year-old kid.

“I threw the ball up to him after I was done playing catch, about to walk to the bullpen, and the ball goes right past my head. I turned around and the group of 15-year-olds were all [flipping me off].

“There was a cop sitting right behind them smiling and laughing. Didn’t care at all. I was like, ‘Alright, this is fun.'”

Apparently, his performance on the mound would be equally as forgettable as he remembers losing to Max Scherzer on a rainy New York night.

But the funniest tidbit was what happened after the game.

Webb said the kid that threw the ball actually DM’d him on social media to ensure the pitcher knew.

“That was me who threw the ball,” the fan said. “I wish it hit you!”

Brutal!

To this point, that’s been Webb’s only appearance in Citi Field, where he boasts an 0-1 record with an ERA of 7.35.

He’s been much more effective in the friendly confines of Oracle Park, going 2-0 vs. the Mets in three appearances.
