As it does every year, EA Sports has once again used its Madden NFL video game to predict the winner of Super Bowl LVIII between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.

For awhile there, Madden was doing amazingly well predicting the outcomes of Super Bowls.

In fact, at one point the game was 12-5 in correctly guessing the winners.

However, the last three years has seen Madden predictions fall off a cliff, missing all three Super Bowl winners to drop to 12-8 after 20 years of trying to correctly predict outcome of the big game.

Last year, Madden predicted the Philadelphia Eagles would beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII by a score of 31-17.

Before that, they had the final score being Cincinnati Bengals 24, Los Angeles Rams 21.

And in 2021, they predicted the Chiefs would beat the Buccaneers 28-21.

This year, Madden NFL 24 foresees another close Super Bowl.

Despite the 49ers currently sitting as the favorites over the Chiefs, Madden NFL 24 sees a mild upset happening on Sunday.

Good news for Chiefs fans, right? Not if you go by the last two times the Chiefs were in the Super Bowl because EA Sports got both of those predictions wrong.

Then again, the last time Madden did get their prediction right in a Super Bowl was when the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. That year they predicted a 35-31 win for Kansas City (who ended up winning 31-20) and correctly named Patrick Mahomes as the MVP.

Should they get it right again this year, however, Mahomes will once again win the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player award – the third of his still young NFL career – and becoming just the third player in history to win MVP in back-to-back games.

Will it happen again? We will find out when the real Super Bowl kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET in Las Vegas on Sunday.
