Authorities have charged an Indiana man with stalking after he sent “multiple threatening and explicit messages” to Fever star Sophie Cunningham. And she isn’t alone in receiving these threats, according to authorities.
Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced on Wednesday that Kevin Singh, 49, had been charged with stalking, intimidation, and harassment of Sophie Cunningham. The first two charges are Level 6 felonies. The third charge is a Class B misdemeanor.
According to a probable cause affidavit, “Singh’s conduct became increasingly threatening after he was contacted by team security, ultimately resulting in the criminal charges filed in this case.”
Messages started as a nuisance, but soon escalated
Some of the messages Singh allegedly sent to Sophie Cunningham and captured in screenshots from direct messages include:
• “If you won’t legit marry me, I’d really like to meet you. I know…you have a billion fans. But I PROMISE it would be fun.”
• “You’re literally down the street for me!”
• “Whatcha do in that hotel? Huh? Naughty girl.”
• “Do me a favor? Show up as you are. Don’t perform for me. Include me in things that are changing. I wanna grow with you. (in my pants).”
• “Thinking about you. I love you, Soph.”
Messages from the alleged stalker got more threatening over time
After Singh received a cease-and-desist order from Pacers Sports & Entertainment, he allegedly ramped up the threats in his messages. The following messages were allegedly sent to Cunningham on X:
• “You stalker mother f—–. You’ve LOVED my show. You should be buying tickets for that. But, I’m the nuisance. I made you look at me & screenshot pics of me.”
• “The organization literally threatened me with JAIL. Over what?? Because you can’t stop looking at what I post?? Do you have ANY f—– clue what that threat feels like? I can’t go there for ANY reason. Any concert, comedy show … bc if you, & your F—UP mental health.”
• “Yes, I’m in love with you. 1000% That’s never gonna change. You love me; not sure you’re in love. & I am worried that’ll change; so, I’ma make sure it doesn’t.”
• “I just unleashed HELL on my sneaky little stalkers. You are my enemy. Pain is coming. I promise.”
The alleged stalker has been charged with doing this sort of thing before
Singh is already on probation in Hendricks County after pleading guilty to two counts of invasion of privacy. In that case, 10 additional charges, including stalking, obstruction of justice and harassment, were dismissed as part of a deal.
“The internet has made it easier than ever to target, harass and intimidate others. Threats of violence, whether face-to-face or behind a keyboard, will be taken seriously,” Mears said in a statement, according to WTHR News.
“Coming forward is never easy, regardless of a person’s position or public profile. The victim is setting an example by speaking out. No one should have to endure harassment, intimidation or threats of violence, and every person deserves to feel safe in their workplace and throughout our community.”
WNBA stars have faced similar situations in the past
In January of 2025, a 55-year-old Texas man named Michael Lewis was arrested and charged with stalking and harassing Sophie Cunningham’s Indiana Fever teammate Caitlin Clark. Lewis drove to Indianapolis and then sent Clark multiple messages on social media threatening sexual battery. FBI officials then traced Lewis’s messages, and he was arrested.
In 2024, Paige Bueckers dealt with a similar situation when an Oregon man traveled across the country in a string of stalking incidents. In December of that year, he pleaded guilty to second-degree stalking. He was not given any jail time, but was barred from the state of Connecticut and all UConn arenas, hotels and practice facilities. He was also banned from all WNBA arenas and practice facilities and has to abide by a protective order that runs through 2064.
