This Chinook Salmon Caught In Argentina Is One Of The Biggest We’ve Ever Seen

Any anglers looking for a sign from above to go Chinook salmon fishing in Argentina, let this be the sign they’re looking for.

A massive Chinook salmon estimated at 30kg, or 66+ pounds, was landed by an angler fishing with Tres Amigos Outfitters out of Estancia Cristina on Lago Argentina. The unspoiled waters of Lago Argentina offer one of the most remote fishing opportunities for diehard anglers and this clip of the enormous Chinook salmon being released is going to gain a lot of attention.

That Chinook appears to be the size of some tarpon caught here in Florida. It is absolutely gargantuan. Thankfully, that enormous fish was released to go make new generations of enormous salmon.

That said, anglers looking to catch massive Chinook salmon can do so in the United States because the Kenai River in Alaska produced the all-tackle IGFA fishing world record for Chinook, a 97lb 4oz fish caught in May, 1985 by angler Les Anderson.

If that Argentinian Chinook salmon above is estimated at 30KG and the world record fish was 44.11KG, my mind is unable to process just how massive that salmon caught in 1985 was. This fish above looks like a toy submarine. A Chinook 150% that size would be the size of a children’s kayak.

Here’s another look at this absolute beast of a fish:

And here is another massive Chinook caught by Tres Amigos Outfitters last year:

While there isn’t a length of this fish listed in the original post, Patagonia produced a world record Chinook salmon last year when angler James Schmid reeled in a 113-cm Chinook.
