Washington QB Michael Penix impressed onlookers during his recent Pro Day performance, posting numbers not expected from a player many categorize as being strictly a pocket passer.

Most notably, his 40-yard dash time is making the rounds as he recorded an effortless sub-4.5 run time.

That number surprised both due to Penix’s game and his history of injury. The gunslinger had four season-ending setbacks while playing at Indiana, which included a pair of ACL tears.

For that reason, he was often seen playing in knee braces when suiting up for the Washington Huskies over the last two seasons.

The injuries haven’t held him back in terms of on-field production, as he racked up more than 9,500 yards at UW while throwing 67 touchdowns and leading the Huskies to a national title appearance as a senior.

As he looks ahead to the NFL Draft, he’s further proving that point.

Washington held its Pro Day on Thursday and Michael Penix was the man of the hour. The passer showed some ELITE athleticism, spurning any narratives surrounding that injury history.

He recorded a 36.5-inch vertical, a more than respectable number. He then outdid himself in the 40-yard dash.

Michael Penix posted a 4.46 unofficial time!

Flying!

Making it all-the-more impressive is the effortlessness in which he did so. Viewers were quick to comment online.

“Bro just casually jogging a 4.46.”

“Penix at a 4.46 is actually wild considering they refer to him as a pocket passer.”

“The first-round hype is so back.”

The showing, combined with his enormous hand size, should only boost his draft stock heading into April. He’s currently viewed as a late-first to second-round pick.
