Michigan is in the midst of an NCAA investigation related to a years-long sign-stealing scandal, and fans have come up with the most fitting punishment.

It wouldn’t include a postseason ban, probation, loss of scholarships, or vacated wins. This is much, much more sinister.

While the Wolverines would retain their bowl eligibility in this hypothetical scenario, their postseason hopes might still be dashed given the severity of the requested disciplinary action.

This sanction involves a major shakeup on the coaching staff.

Jim Harbaugh might keep his job, but his two top assistants would have to go.

And who better to replace the offensive and defensive coordinators than Brian Ferentz and Alex Grinch?

Ferentz, the current OC at Iowa, recently revealed his intention to step away after season’s end. The Hawkeyes have produced some of the nation’s worst offenses over the last few seasons, and they keep setting embarrassing records at the sportsbooks each and every week that passes.

Grinch, meanwhile, was let go after his USC defense gave up 52 points in a loss to Washington on Saturday. The Trojans have surrendered 40 points or more in five or their last six games and at least 28 points in all but two games this season.

  • USC defense ’23 season stats
    • PPG: 34.5 (121st out of 130); YPG: 436 (119th out of 130)

Together, their powers could provide the Wolverines with the worst OC/DC combo in college football.

The NCAA’s punishment to for the Connor Stalions scandal should be Michigan offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz and Michigan defensive coordinator Alex Grinch.”

I’ve decided on the appropriate punishment for Michigan: let them keep Harbaugh, let them remain bowl eligible. However, they must hire Brian Ferentz as OC and Alex Grinch as DC. The punishment fits the crime.”

A simple solution.

And hey, there’s a chance that the coordinators’ performance would improve with the new scenery in Ann Arbor. And if not, there’s always the tried-and-true fallback in Tuscaloosa.

We can only wish!
