Seahawks wide receiver Montorie Foster next to For Sale sign outside home
Most NFL players fighting for one of the final spots on a 53-man roster probably have a backup plan. Montorie Foster Jr. has one that involves showing strangers around houses while wearing a Super Bowl ring.
The Seattle Seahawks receiver revealed on Hard Knocks that he earned his real estate license after Seattle waived him with an injury last summer, only to eventually return to the practice squad and become part of a Super Bowl championship team. According to MarketWatch, Foster has since brought that championship ring to open houses while attempting to launch a second career that has produced exactly zero home sales so far.
Montorie Foster Went From Waived To Realtor To Super Bowl Champion
Foster originally signed with Seattle as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State in May 2025.
His rookie opportunity disappeared almost immediately.
The official Seahawks bio shows Seattle waived him with an injury on Aug. 6, and Foster later said he spent roughly 16 weeks back home in Ohio wondering whether another NFL opportunity would ever arrive.
So he got busy.
Foster became a substitute teacher at his old high school, trained young football players, and earned his real estate license. He even ended up supervising a Latin class despite admitting to the team website that he did not know any Latin, which sounds less like substitute teaching and more like an extremely organized study hall.
Then football called again.
Seattle signed Foster to its practice squad on Dec. 30, allowing him to join the eventual Super Bowl LX champions for their postseason run. Suddenly, the guy studying for a real estate license because football might be over had a Super Bowl ring available as marketing material.
That is one way to spice up an open house.
The Super Bowl Ring Has Not Sold A House Yet
Foster said on Hard Knocks that he started bringing the ring with him to open houses.
Apparently potential buyers were impressed.
They were not impressed enough to actually buy anything.
MarketWatch reports Foster still has not closed his first home sale, although he plans to keep his license despite recently discovering there are renewal fees involved.
Fortunately, the football career is currently looking much healthier.
Foster led Seattle with five catches for 36 yards and caught the Seahawks’ only touchdown in their preseason opener against Dallas. Drew Lock said Foster has had a “great summer,” while the Seahawks report noted that he has consistently stood out throughout training camp.
He still has work to do.
A Field Gulls roster analysis placed Foster around seventh in Seattle’s crowded receiver battle, which could leave him fighting for another practice-squad opportunity rather than an active roster spot.
That creates an incredible late-August résumé.
Wide receiver. Realtor. Former substitute Latin teacher. Super Bowl champion. If football doesn’t work out, at least he already owns the most aggressive conversation starter in real estate.
