The Milwaukee Bucks entered the 2025-26 NBA season with championship aspirations. When all was said and done, however, they ended with a 32-50 record, a fired head coach, a disgruntled superstar, and a seemingly fractured locker room.

So, what went wrong?

According to star center Myles Turner, a lack of accountability plagued the Bucks throughout the season. And he placed blame for the issue not just at the feet of former coach Doc Rivers, but also with superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Myles Turner Says Giannis Antentokounmpo Was Often Late To Team Meeting

Turner joined co-host and WNBA superstar Breanna Stewart on their Game Recognizes Game podcast and he was quick to air out Milwaukee’s dirty laundry.

As Turner tells it, Rivers rarely held players accountable, and that started at the top with Antetokounmpo.

“Guys were late all the time,” Turner told Stewart. “Guys were showing up to film whenever they wanted to show up. Guys were missing meetings. It was one of the craziest things I personally ever experienced.”

Stewart then followed up to ask who the biggest violator of the issue was, to which Turner replied that the answer was “easy.”

“Giannis. Giannis is going to show up whenever he wants, really,” he said. “I think that this kind of just came with the territory that — and once I saw what was going down, I was like, ‘Hey man, more power to you. They ain’t going to fine you. S—, do what you do.’

“It was crazy, dawg. Guys were an hour late to the plane. It got to the point where I knew not to show up until an hour after they said the plane was taking off. It was crazy.”

Antetokounmpo has spent his entire 13-year career with the Bucks, leading them to a championship in 2021. But rumors began to pop up last summer that he might seek an exit from the organization.

Those rumors were furthered when the team held him out of the end of this past season in hopes of finding their way into the NBA lottery.

Now, it appears that an exit is even more likely. But if Antetokounmpo remains in Milwaukee, he and Turner may have to have some awkward reconciling to do.
