Nebraska football fans are already showing concern for a new member of the overhauled coaching staff. They’ve been quick to post their reactions online.

Cornhuskers message boards are asking about special teams coordinator Ed Foley. His off-the-field actions are causing a stir around Lincoln.

Foley was hired to the program this past offseason, following new head coach Matt Rhule over from the Carolina Panthers. He coached in the NFL for three seasons following a lengthy career at the collegiate level.

That experience includes stops at Penn, Fordham, Hofstra, Temple, and Baylor.

Many are worried about the coach’s diet as he frequently posts photos of his lunch stops both around campus and on the recruiting trail.

One football fan posted the following message on a Nebraska message board earlier this week.

“Is anyone else worried about Ed Foley’s cholesterol? Every day he tweets another photo or two of his deep-fried lunch and dinner that he’s had in some small Nebraska town.”

The dishes certainly don’t look to be the healthiest, but hey, there’s a little green on every plate. And if you’ve ever seen an interview of coach Foley, he looks and sounds like the kind of person that enjoys a hearty meal.

And you probably don’t want to be the one to suggest he change up his diet.

Foley is hoping to help turn around a once proud Nebraska football program that’s found itself in a rut. Over the last eight seasons, they’ve gone just 38-56, posting seven losing campaigns.

Last year, Scott Frost was fired following a Week 3 loss to Georgia Southern. Things were so bad during the head coach’s tenure that the university spent an extra $7.5M to get rid of him early.

We’ll see if the new staff, Foley included, can get it back on track in Lincoln.
