Roswell High School served as one of the host venues for a Perfect Game tournament in the greater Atlanta area. Unfortunately a baseball team from New Jersey left the Hornets’ dugout in terrible condition.
It was a bad look for the program.
The coach has since reached out to the Hornets to apologize, which is admirable. However, his reasoning for the dereliction of duty does not excuse how his baseball program acted. (Or, rather, did not act!)
Roswell High School hosted Perfect Game.
If you are are not familiar with Perfect Game, it is the premier amateur baseball league in the United States. It is the top resource for recruiting (much like 247, Rivals or On3 on the football side of things), as well as a travel tournament and showcase organizer.
The organization has produced 2,576 MLB players and 16,376 MLB Draft selection since it was founded in 2010.
Perfect Game most recently held the 2026 15U WWBA National Championship at the East Cobb Complex and surrounding Atlanta facilities from July 17-24. One of the “surrounding Atlanta facilities” was Roswell High School in Roswell, Georgia.
Although the city of Roswell has multiple teams registered with Perfect Game, it does not appear as though they qualified for the 15U WWBA National Championship. They were only the host team. As far as I can tell, they did not participate.
Nine games were played at Roswell High School on July 17, 18 and 19. The incident took place on Saturday.
A New Jersey baseball team left a mess in the dugout.
FS Prime 2029 Scout is based out of Sewell, New Jersey. It played in the 2:40 p.m. game at Roswell High School on Saturday. According to the tournament schedule, it defeated the Indiana Mustangs BennieBoys American 2029 by a score of 15-0.
Unfortunately, FS Prime 2029 Scout did not treat the host venue with respect. The dugout was a mess. Plastic bottles and trash was everywhere. They did not clean up after themselves while the team from Indiana left their dugout spotless.
FS Prime was the only team to leave the facility in this condition. Roswell got the field ready for play and shut it down after the game was over, and had to clean up the dugout.
“I did pick it up. Also got the field ready for them to play their game on it. Also shut down the field after the game was done. Didn’t think I was going to have to clean up their dugout as well. Only team this summer.”
Roswell also provided both teams with fresh bags for their trash.
“I literally took out both trash bags in the dugout during their game and replaced them with new ones. Completely empty and we decide not to use them. But but hosting is cleaning up after?”
The head coach from FS Prime did reach out to Roswell to apologize. He had to leave early so he was not there to make sure his team left the dugout in the same or better condition than how they found it.
“For an update. Their coach did get my number and called to apologize. He said he had to leave early and that is not the type of program they are, I completely believe him. Just a bad moment in time.”
That is a poor reflection on his assistant coaches, the players, and their parents. It is common courtesy to clean up after yourself. As Roswell said, “Imagine how quick it would be if 20 players cleaned it up.” Nobody thought to do so!
