The league is going through it right now as we’ve had two games in one week make horrific roughing-the-passer calls. First, it was Jerome Boger (as usual) calling it against the Atlanta Falcons after clearly sacking Tom Brady. Then it happened again when Carl Cheffers threw the flag on Chris Jones for sacking Derek Carr.

Now, the NFL refs are explaining why they threw the flag on Monday Night Football and it has fans outraged. And rightfully so.

NFL Refs Explain Why They Threw The Flag On Chiefs Star Chris Jones

This is a terrible look for the league right now. Jones had sacked Carr and stripped the ball. Instead, his amazing play was taken away from him by one of the worst penalties we’ve seen all year. The Raiders got a freebie, but the Chiefs had the final laugh in the end.

According to Tom Pelissero, Carl Cheffers, the NFL referee who threw the flag, goes into detail about what transpired.

So we can’t tackle the quarterback anymore? We’re about ready to call up Randy Marsh to lead the way for Sarcastaball because that’s the direction the NFL is heading right now. These roughing-the-passer calls are horrific and it makes it hard to watch the games. Fans took to social media to voice their displeasure.

Cheffers admitting a replay wouldn’t have helped might have been the worst part.

Dynasty GM makes a fair point. The NFL may have made the rules too specific. Either way, it needs to be fixed.

Told you! Call Randy Marsh right now!

Hopefully, the league looks into making some serious changes. Otherwise, horrible calls like this will continue to be made and ruin the integrity of the game.
