The Minnesota Vikings have found themselves at the center of trade talks involving their star pass-rusher, Danielle Hunter.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, several teams have reached out to the Vikings expressing “pretty serious” interest in acquiring the talented defensive player.

The Vikings’ offseason has been marked by uncertainty, with the future Dalvin Cook up in the air already departing with pass-rusher Za’Darius Smith, who was traded to the Cleveland Browns.

Hunter, who signed a contract extension with the Vikings back in 2018, has been a force to be reckoned with on the field. His exceptional performance last season solidified his position as an upper-echelon pass rusher.

Hunter played all 17 games and registered an impressive 10.5 sacks and matched his career-high with 22 quarterback hits. Hunter’s remarkable display earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl for the third time in his career.

Hunter’s 71 career sacks and 112 quarterback hits since entering the league solidifies him among the best in his position.

Hunter’s contract situation has been a topic of discussion since his extension in 2018, and now with only one year remaining on his deal, the Vikings find themselves at a crossroads. The calls they are receiving regarding a potential trade for Hunter indicate a genuine interest from other teams, which puts the Vikings in a difficult position.

While Hunter’s salary for this year is a relatively modest $5.5 million, his performance on the field makes him a valuable asset and one that other teams are eager to acquire.

As the trade talks unfold, the Vikings must carefully weigh their options and consider the long-term implications of parting ways with a player of Hunter’s caliber.
